CROOKED HEART
Crooked Heart began as an embroidered canvas with a bird, something I picked up from the Christmas Tree Shop. I painted over it, added layers of texture, and stitched in yellow-lined details, letting the piece take shape on its own. The bold red heart, slightly uneven and raw, reminds me of my favorite part of Valentine’s Day: a heart-shaped box of chocolate messy, familiar, and always a little unexpected.
This piece is all about transformation; taking something old and making it new. The layered paint, rough stitches, and imperfect lines give it a sense of depth and character, just like love itself. Whether you see it as a Valentine's Day-inspired artwork or just an abstract piece with a story, Crooked Heart embraces imperfection in a way that feels real.
Happy Valentine's s Day to all! Im especially grateful to spend another Valentine's Day with my husband, Matt.

TOM
Tom was my godfather, who happened to also look like Jesus, indeed life can be stranger than fiction. He was also my mom’s first husband and lifetime best friend. Army veteran, turned hippie, he always sported a tie die shirt, cut off sweatpants, and impeccably shined combat boots. He was not a typical parent, nor was I around him daily. That does not matter though, our love was mutual, and I will be forever grateful for the encouragement to express myself through art to share with the world.
