About

Hi , I’m Carol and I’m the Artist.

Art runs in my blood. My grandfather, Clifford, was a commercial artist in the Bay Area during the 1950s and 60s, and my dad, while more technical as a fire engineer, still passed down a creative spirit. I took a different path, earning an MBA and spending most of my career in corporate finance—something that, surprisingly, has helped my art. The precision, organization, and structure I learned in finance have shaped how I approach creating, and it’s become my perfect outlet.

I’m originally from Sacramento, and it’s a dream come true to be making art while living in the City by the Sea; Newport, Rhode Island. A lot of my work is inspired by my experiences—being an optimistic, innovative Californian navigating the traditional, structured world of New England. My art reflects that duality and the stories that come with it.

Step 1: Observe

Every piece starts with careful observation. I take in my surroundings, noting light, color, and detail to inspire my vision.

Step 2: Bookmark

Next, I bookmark or take physical notes of ideas, capturing the themes and emotions based on my observations.

Step 3: Evolve

Rather than planning, I let my artwork evolve naturally. Each piece grows at its own pace; some take days, while others unfold over years, allowing creativity to guide the process.

Step 4: Create

I start with the color scheme, then focus on the main subject, and finally choose the materials. Each layer builds upon the last, staying true to my evolving vision.

Step 5: Refine

I step back to refine my work, adding final touches and ensuring every element fits together seamlessly.

Step 6: Reflect

I take time to review what worked and what could be improved, helping me grow as an artist.
